Read around Asia started life in
Stirling,
in the heart of Scotland, and is now based in Glasgow.
The company was founded by editor Jacqueline Young, in association with editorial consultant Katherine Meredith. Both are former long-term residents of Hong Kong. Jacqueline is currently working towards a PhD at Glasgow University, researching nineteenth-century Western residents of China who wrote fiction set in the country, among them Mrs Archibald Little, Paul and Veronica King, 'Putnam Weale' (the pseudonym of Bertram Lenox Simpson), and Charles Welsh Mason. Other editorial consultants associated with Read around Asia are: - Barbara Baker, author of Shanghai: Electric and Lurid City and Chinese Ink, Western Pen (both published by Oxford University Press), and co-author of Round: Poems and Photographs of Asia (Asia 2000), which can be purchased from us: click here to buy). - Martin Andrews, freelance editor, based in Dundee, Scotland.
